The Sunday Night Music Club convenes at the Watchung Arts Center, which is one mile from either Route 78 or Route 22.

 

From Route 78:

• Take exit 40 ("Watchung") and turn off the ramp in the direction of the "Hospital" signs (it's a right turn if you were heading east [toward NYC] and a left if you were heading west [toward PA] on Route 78).
• You will be on Hillcrest Road, which goes all the way to the Watchung Circle. At the STOP sign at the bottom of the long hill (about a mile from the Route 78 exit) make a right and go almost completely around the circle. The entrance to the Arts Center is on your right a few feet before where you entered the circle.

From Route 22:

• Get off Route 22 at the overpass marked Watchung (known locally as the "Plainfield Overpass").
• From Route 22 Westbound, the exit will put you right onto Watchung Avenue, which takes you to the Watchung Circle.
• From Route 22 Eastbound, you'll be taking a jughandle, which is just beyond the overpass. Circle around on the jughandle and take the overpass back over Route 22. Turn left at the light, which will put you on Watchung Avenue heading toward the Watchung Circle. The Arts Center is on your right as soon as you enter the circle.

The Best Local Restaurants

The Water and Wine Restaurant (141 Stirling Road, 908.755.9344) is a classy and moderately-priced lakeside Italian restaurant just across the Watchung Circle from the Arts Center.

The Silk Road Restaurant (41 Mountain Blvd. in Warren, 908.561.8288) specializes in Kabobs, Palaws, and Mediterranean cuisine.

Many highway-type restaurants (did someone say TGIF?) line Route 22, which is one mile from the Arts Center.
