Wood's Tea Company

Sunday, January 6 , 7pm            $15

Join Vermont-based quartet Wood's Tea Company for an evening of Celtic, maritime, American folk, and bluegrass music. Using as many as a dozen different instruments, from banjos, bazoukis and bodhrans, to guitars and tin whistles, Wood's Tea tours the country offering a mixture of lively music and dry New England humor. Folk Music Quarterly raves: "Side stepping pretension and going for the grit, this New England group gives a lusty performance every time."

 Cliff Eberhardt

                                                         Sunday, February 10, 7pm            $15

One of folk music’s most engaging performers—and certainly one of its master craftsmen—Cliff Eberhardt creates biting, clever, and honest songs, full of vivid imagery and intense emotion. In addition to his own performances, accompanied by masterful guitar and piano work and leavened with hilariously witty stories, Cliff's songs have been recorded and performed by  Richie Havens, Buffy St. Marie, Lucy Kaplansky, and Cry Cry Cry.

Silk City with guest vocalist Mary Olive Smith

                    Sunday, March 30, 7pm            $15

SILK CITY brings together the cream of New Jersey's cutting-edge bluegrass/newgrass players for a madcap romp through genres as diverse as folkified Haydn and the "Wizard of Oz Medley."  Mandolinist Barry Mitterhoff, who now tours with Jorma Kaukonen and guitarist Danny Weiss, who with Tony Trishka, Danny, and Barry was at the core of the breakthrough bands Skyline and Country Cookin' have built an international reputation as Silk City, named after Barry's home town of Paterson. Their recordings on Sliced Bread Records show the playful virtuosity that comes with years of making music together. For this performance only, honky-tonk vocalist Mary Olive Smith of the group Reckon So will join the boys. Bassist Larry Cohen will not appear at this performance.

Harvey Reid and Joyce Andersen

                    Sunday, April 13, 7pm            $15

"...one of the true treasures of American acoustic music ." ACOUSTIC GUITAR MAGAZINE

"Harvey Reid is a one-man history of acoustic music." The Missoulian

"...Reid dazzles an audience with an array of stringed weapons." DENVER POST

We'll never forget our last sold-out visit from Harvey Reid, the brilliant multi-instrumentalist who is both a National Fingerpicking Guitar Champion and International Autoharp Champion and is the inventor of the "partial capo" that is now in such wide use. That rare visit to New Jersey was a magnificent evening of hot picking, sweet ballads, and styles ranging from Celtic jigs to house-shaking blues-rockers. Even more rare, however, is this duo appearance by Harvey and his wife, fiddler Joyce Andersen. Joyce adds captivating fiddle work and soaring harmonies to Harvey's wide range of acoustic music. This will be a magical evening.

Herdman Hills & Mangsen

                    Sunday, May 11, 7pm            $15

Three of folk's most legendary voices combine for a remarkable trio performance. Called "a genuine folk super-group" by The Boston Globe, separately and together they have garnered countless accolades and awards from radio, press and concert presenters both within and outside the folk community. Priscilla Herdman. Anne Hills, and Cindy Mangsen among them have produced more than fifty solo albums, and together bring intricate arrangements to musical treasures with an art-song vocal styling that crosses the boundaries of folk and classical music. Their close friendship creates an almost-telepathic harmony and a warm and magical stage performance.
